Educational game developed during the COVID-19 pandemic to teach, in a playful and interactive way, the importance of vaccination and disease prevention.
About the project
As Aventuras do Zé Gotinha is an educational game developed as a university project during the COVID-19 pandemic. The game was created to teach the importance of vaccination in a more engaging and interactive way.
My role
I coordinated the tasks and responsibilities between the members of the group, helping organize the development and making sure everyone could build on a common foundation.
I was also responsible for establishing the project’s technical architecture and creating the initial foundation of the game, which the other members then built upon. In addition, I defined the game’s overall art style and visual direction.
The concept
The project was based on the need to communicate the importance of vaccination during a period when public awareness around COVID-19 and disease prevention was especially important.
Instead of presenting the subject through traditional educational material, we chose to approach it through an interactive game, using a familiar character associated with vaccination in Brazil: Zé Gotinha.
The implementation
The game was developed from scratch using Python and Pygame. The project involved combining the game’s educational content with an interactive experience while working within the capabilities of a lightweight game framework.
