Easy Med
2022
Application developed to bring the experience of an in-person clinic closer to the digital environment, allowing patients to complete parts of their care remotely.
About the project
Easy Med is a mobile healthcare app developed as a college project during the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea was to bring the experience of visiting a clinic or hospital as closely as possible into an online environment, while giving both patients and doctors the tools they needed to manage their appointments and consultations.
My role
I coordinated the work between the members of the group, defined the project’s architecture, and created the foundation that the rest of the team built upon. I was also responsible for the visual direction of the interface, defining its overall style and ensuring consistency throughout the app.
From research to prototype
The project started in a Human-Computer Interaction course, where the first semester was focused on understanding and designing the experience. We studied UI/UX and applied them directly to the interface and user flows.
The result was a Figma prototype that explored how a traditional healthcare experience could translate into a digital product.
The solution
We continued developing the project in the following semester for a mobile development course, turning the prototype into a functional application with React Native and Firebase.
The app allowed patients to schedule appointments and exams, access and download exam results, receive medication reminders, and receive prescriptions from their doctors.
Doctors also had tools integrated directly into the consultation experience. They could take notes, issue and send prescriptions, and access a patient’s health information and medical records when the patient chose to share them, reducing the need to switch between different applications during an online consultation.
The prototype
The original interface and user flows were designed in Figma, with the prototype serving as the foundation for the mobile implementation.
Technologies
The application was implemented with React Native and Firebase, following the interface and interaction patterns established during the UI/UX research and prototyping phase.
