About the project

gabrielfins.com is my personal portfolio, designed to present my work and experience through an interactive experience rather than a conventional portfolio layout.

The current version is an evolution of my original portfolio, which I created before the rise of AI-assisted development. I recently improved the existing site and launched its second version, keeping the foundation I had already built while expanding its visual direction and interactions.

Visual direction

The website was heavily inspired by Hollow Knight, my favorite game. Its atmosphere, visual style, and use of environmental elements influenced the way I approached the portfolio’s overall experience.

The site features multiple visual themes, each with its own atmosphere and identity. Interface design, animation, lighting, and sound work together to make the portfolio feel more like an environment than a collection of pages.

Three.js is used for the visual background, with a 2D plane and spotlight effects creating depth and atmosphere without relying on interactive 3D models.

My role

I designed and developed the portfolio myself, from the visual direction and interface design to the implementation of the website and its interactive elements.

Because it is a personal project, I was able to experiment freely with interaction, visual design, animation, sound, and frontend architecture without the constraints of a client project.

Implementation

The website was built with Svelte and uses Three.js for its visual effects. The frontend, animations, themes, interactions, and supporting components were developed as part of the same project.

For the second version, I also used AI-assisted development to evolve the existing codebase. AI was used as a development tool while I remained responsible for the design, architecture, decisions, and final implementation.
