Gogon Faces
2023
Facial recognition access control system with alternative RFID authentication, logging access records for review in a monitoring interface.
About the project
Gogon Faces is an access control system developed as a university project for a real company. Its purpose was to restrict access to a private area within the company, allowing only authorized people to enter.
The solution
The system used facial recognition as the primary method of identification, with an RFID reader connected to an Arduino providing an alternative way to identify users. Access records were stored in Firebase and could be monitored through a React interface.
My role
I was responsible for programming the different parts of the system and setting up the Arduino circuit that connected the physical access-control hardware to the software.
Implementation
The facial recognition system was developed with Python and OpenCV. The hardware component used an Arduino and RFID reader, while Firebase was used to store access records and React to build the interface for viewing them.
