Simplr View
2019
Desktop application for inventory and point-of-sale management, built to serve different types of stores with a focus on customization and adapting to each business's needs.
About the project
Simplr View is a desktop application for managing products, inventory, sales, suppliers, and customers. Unlike Final Stop, which was designed specifically for appliance stores, Simplr View was built to support stores across different types of businesses.
The project was developed as the final project for my technical course, building on the experience and ideas from Final Stop.
The problem
Different types of stores have different ways of organizing their products and managing their day-to-day operations. A fixed interface designed around one type of business can become limiting when applied to another.
We wanted to build a system that could adapt to the store using it instead of forcing every business to work in the same way.
The solution
Simplr View combined inventory, sales, product, supplier, and customer management in a single application while allowing each store to personalize the system to its own needs.
The interface and some registration fields could be customized, giving businesses more control over how products and other information were organized and presented.
The differential
Personalization was the main focus of Simplr View. Instead of creating a single interface and data structure that every store had to adapt to, the application allowed the store itself to define how the system should look like and how some parts should work.
This made the same application suitable for different types of businesses while keeping the interface relevant to each one’s workflows.
Implementation
Simplr View was built as a desktop application using Visual Basic, with MySQL as its database. It was developed as the final project of my technical course, expanding on the concepts explored in Final Stop into a more flexible and customizable system.
